Neil Callander recently returned to Louisville KY, his hometown, to teach painting and drawing at the University of Louisville and Indiana University Southeast. He received his BFA from Indiana University in 2003 and his MFA from The Mason Gross School of Art at Rutgers University in 2006. Additionally, Neil received a full fellowship to attend The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2005. After graduate school Neil worked as a painting assistant to the artist Jeff Koons in his studio in New York City. Neil’s work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions including the 2010 WaterTower Regional in Louisville, The 2009 Paint Snob Invitational in Waco TX, and First Look at the NJ Center for Contemporary Art. Currently Neil is preparing to mount two solo exhibitions in 2011 at Goose Barnacle Gallery in Brooklyn NY and Vincennes University. He paints in his basement studio and lives with his wife, young son and a large dog.
