Please join us for the upcoming series of exhibitions and events at Kentucky School of Art’s new exhibition space- 849 Gallery.

All exhibitions and events are free and open to the public.

Nov.2, ‘Instant Installation Invitational (iii)’

Stengel Hill Architecture and Kentucky School of Art will host the inaugural Instant Installation Invitational (iii)! iii is a live art competition where ten artists have one hour to spontaneously construct a piece of art using ten mystery objects; with each participating artist secretly choosing on of the ten objects. Winners are chosen strictly based on audience voting and will receive $1,000 in cash prizes. iii will feature live music by DJ Matt Anthony.

  • Doors open at 7pm
  • Competition begins at 8pm
  • Awards presented at 9pm

 

Nov.16 – Dec. 31: ‘Laurie Fader: Paintings from Umbria’

This solo exhibition will feature recent work by Laurie Fader, painted while she was an artist in residence at The International School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture in the Umbria region of Italy.

Ms. Fader, a faculty member at The Kentucky School of Art, will give a presentation on her work and her experience in Italy while detailing plans for a study abroad course for summer, 2013.

  • Opening Reception: Friday, Nov. 16th 6-8pm

Jan.4 – Feb.17: ‘Perceptual Painters Group’

The perceptual painters group was established in 2008 by Brian Rego. Each painter in this group shares similarities in process and believes in the responsive energy that comes from painting directly in front of the motif: the give and take between painter and subject, painter and painting.

Scott Noel, one of the exhibiting artists, will give a presentation on his work.

Feb. 22 – March 31: ‘Leslie Anglin: Imaginary Conversations’

New work by artist and KSA student, Leslie Anglin.

  • Opening Reception: Friday, Feb.22, 6-9pm

 

April 5 – April 21:  Louisville Visual Art Association’s ‘Children’s Fine Art Classes (CFAC)’ High School Student Show

  • Opening Reception: Friday, April 5, 5-7pm

 

April 26 – May 19: ‘Community and Collaboration

Artwork and relevant documentation of the Smoketown Social Club Project.

  • Opening Reception Friday, April 26, 6-9pm

June 21 – Sept.1: ‘Kentucky School of Art Annual Freshman Show’

  • Opening Reception: Friday, June 21, 6-9pm
  • Exhibit continues in the Huff Gallery and Teilhard Hall at Spalding University

 

Sept.20 – Nov. 3: ‘ Annie Langan: New Work’
This solo exhibition is in conjunction with the Louisville Photography Biennial, and will feature recent photographs of Kentucky landscapes  by Ms. Langan, who is a faculty member at Kentucky School of Art.

  • Opening Reception: Friday, Oct. 4, 6-9pm

 

Nov. 8 – Dec. 15: ‘Valerie Fuchs: New Work’

New work by artist and KSA faculty member, Valerie Fuchs.
